Queer Zine Fair
Kelowna’s first Queer Zine Fair, hosted by Kelowna Museums and the University of British Columbia Okanagan Library at the beautiful Laurel Packinghouse on June 3rd, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm!
Queer zine fairs showcase and celebrate zines created by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals or focusing on 2SLGBTQIA+ themes. Queer artists, writers, and creatives can sign up for free to exhibit, sell, or trade their zines. Zines have been a powerful underground and DIY force of expression and cultural movement in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community since the ‘70s. Newbies are invited to come learn more!
After 8 pm, the fair will be followed by an open mic where attendees or exhibitors will be invited to further share their creativity. Sign up at the event to share spoken word, music, comedy, or read passages from your zines aloud. Please feel free to bring food to the venue! Tables will be set up during the fair and open mic.
Registration for attendees is not mandatory. Interested in a booth? Apply for free by visiting our website.
