'This is why winter tires are mandatory until the end of April': Snowfall on Coquihalla, Connector

Motorists have been warned that winter tires are still mandatory on some British Columbia roads after snowfall was recorded along the Coquihalla Highway.

DriveBC posted a short video on Sunday night showing a wintry stretch of the road near the Coquihalla summit.

“This is why winter tires are mandatory until the end of April,” the traffic advisory service said.

Winter tires are mandatory along the route from Oct. 1 to April 30.

According to Environment Canada, flurries are expected along the Coquihalla today.

There’s also a strong possibility of flurries tomorrow, the forecaster said in a public bulletin.

The Okanagan Connector, meanwhile, is also looking snowy this morning.
